Welcome back to the HGATE Newsletter!

With a mixture of Halloween and Bonfire Night, there’s probably enough going on this week to keep you occupied for the rest of the year. Plenty to choose from and something for everyone!

Before I get into this week’s list, I’d like to share that I’m looking for someone on a freelance basis to help run the socials of the newsletter. No previous experience necessary as long as you have a good eye for design and social media. Please reply directly to this email if you’re interested and we can chat further 😁

Illam South Indian Kitchen

Illam brings the authentic flavors of Keralan cuisine to North Yorkshire, offering a true South Indian dining experience crafted by expert artisan chefs. Specializing in seafood, as is traditional with South Indian cooking, Illam's menu features standout dishes like the Vembanadan Meen Polichath—marinated and grilled seasonal fish cooked in banana leaves with onion tomato masala—and the Kuttanadan Njandu Roast, a Keralan-style crab roast simmered in aromatic spices with shallots, onions, and tomatoes.

Beyond seafood, Illam also offers a variety of beef, lamb, poultry, and vegetarian dishes, including delicious options featuring aubergines, chickpeas, lentils, and paneer.

Led by Head Chef Abdul Majeed, formerly of the award-winning Tharavadu in Leeds, and managed by his daughter, Rahisa Kombath, Illam provides an exceptional dining experience in a cozy 60-cover setting. For lovers of authentic South Indian cuisine, Illam is a must-visit destination!
